Our brass round bars are finished by cold drawing or lathe processing, resulting in excellent dimensional accuracy, and we are particularly confident in our thicker bars.We also manufacture the cadmium-free brass bar "Cadominon CN Series," which complies with the RoHS Directive that came into effect in 2006.
In addition to free-cutting brass, we can manufacture a variety of materials, including forging brass, naval brass, and high-strength brass. The Cadminon series includes two types of products: one with a cadmium content of 75 ppm or less and one with a cadmium content of 100 ppm or less.

Cadmium-free brass rod
In June 2005, we began manufacturing and selling cadmium-free brass rods (Cadminon CN series) that comply with the RoHS Directive.
Currently, the Cadominon CN series offers a total of eight types: four conventional product varieties and two types with cadmium content (100 ppm or less and 75 ppm or less).

The sizes range from 50 to over 450mm, and the types include conventional brass rods such as free-cutting brass, forging brass, naval brass, and high-strength brass.
What is the "RoHS Directive"?
The EU (European Union) has established standards for materials used in electrical and electronic products, prohibiting the sale within the EU of products that do not meet the standards of cadmium content of 0.01% (100 ppm) or less, and lead, mercury, and hexavalent chromium content of 0.1% (1000 ppm) or less.
It is called the "RoHS Directive" (RoHS Directive: Japanese translation: "Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances").

Inspection Management
1. Management of raw material ingredients
To keep the cadmium content of brass rods below the RoHS Directive limit of 100 ppm, it is necessary to limit the amount of cadmium in the raw materials used (chips, copper scrap, zinc, etc.).A small amount of purchased raw materials is melted to create an analytical sample, and the surface of the sample is polished and analyzed for other trace elements using an X-ray fluorescence analyzer.
We analyze the components of raw materials before actually using them, and based on the results of that analysis, we do not use raw materials that do not meet the chemical composition requirements of the RoHS Directive.
2.Manufacturing line management
Cast billets that pass the analysis results of "Cadminon" after melting in an electric furnace are painted purple on the end surface to distinguish them from conventional general cast billets.

3.Our cadmium analysis method
X-ray fluorescence analysis: A method of analyzing elements by irradiating a sample with X-rays and detecting and analyzing the fluorescent X-rays emitted from the sample.
Atomic absorption spectrometry: A method in which a liquid sample is atomized and introduced into a flame, and light from a light source is shone on the flame, and the amount of light absorbed by each metal is measured using a detector via a spectroscope.

4. Check the cadmium content of the product
An X-ray fluorescence analyzer is used to analyze trace amounts of cadmium.
Additionally, samples taken from products are analyzed using an atomic absorption analyzer to reconfirm and recheck the cadmium content.
