The company received the IMA (International Magnesium Association) Excellence Award in the wrought materials category, and President Gonda attended the award ceremony.

The 72nd Annual General Meeting of the International Magnesium Association (IMA) was held in Vancouver, Canada from May 17th to 19th, where Hiroaki Tanaka from our sales department gave a lecture on our expansion joint, a construction component for suspended ceilings. This expansion joint also won the IMA's Excellence Award in the wrought materials category. Our company's president, Mr. Gonda, and Mr. Tanaka from the sales department attended the event.
At the annual general meeting, in addition to the board meeting and exhibition, a total of 22 lectures were given and five organizations were awarded with excellence prizes.
The lecture covered the current demand situation for magnesium, the latest element developments, flame-retardant magnesium, and the latest processing technologies. In addition, European and American manufacturers presented examples of technology developments using magnesium components to reduce the weight of automobile bodies in response to the automobile fuel efficiency regulations that will come into effect nationwide in 2025.
Tanaka from our sales department gave a presentation on the expansion joint that Asahi Sanko Co., Ltd. (a building materials manufacturer) developed for use with non-combustible magnesium alloy sheet material produced by our company's twin roll casting system (GTRC), and covered everything from the background of the development to actual construction examples. In the Q&A session after the presentation, many positive questions were asked, such as whether it is possible to sell it outside of Japan. In addition, in the Excellence Awards given to technologies that have contributed to the spread of magnesium, our company won the Excellence Award in the wrought materials category for the practical application of this expansion joint. The IMA Chairman presented the award plaque, and President Gonda gave a speech of thanks.
