The 127th Autumn Meeting of the Japan Institute of Light Metals was held on November 15th and 16th at the Ookayama Campus of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
The conference was divided into general lectures and six theme sessions, with a total of 200 lectures given over the two days. Four researchers from our company gave two research presentations in the general lectures and two in the theme sessions.
In particular, the lecture by Tomomi Ito and Yuta Fukuda in Session 4, "Latest Technology Development for the Creation of Flame-Retardant Magnesium Alloy Extruded Components," was the result of research conducted in the "Research and Development of Innovative New Structural Materials, etc." project, a Future Pioneering Project commissioned by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

In recent years, magnesium alloys have been considered for use in components for reducing the weight of railway vehicles, aircraft, and automobiles, as they are the lightest of all practical metal materials. Through this autumn conference, we were keenly aware that the pace of practical application of magnesium alloys in various industries has accelerated, led by the flame-retardant magnesium alloys that our company has been researching and developing.
